UNIQUE EXPERIENCE CONTAINER SHOWS HOW BUSINESS SITES CAN BECOME WATER SUSTAINABLE
Flanders gains from water with VITO and The Oval Office
Antwerp, 20 March 2024 - Flanders is increasingly confronted with intense drought and flooding. In order to build our defences, VITO is working with The Oval Office. A new activation aims to inspire businesses and governments to team up to do more with water.
Where there’s a will, there’s a waterway
Businesses play a crucial role in future-proof water management in Flanders. Using a new campaign, the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) aims to demonstrate how you can be wiser with water on a large scale, specifically on and around business sites. With practical and clever efforts VITO shows not only how you can save money and water, but also how to save time or benefit nature and society.
Governments, businesses, farmers and researchers can take different measures, including removing hard surfaces and replanting, and capturing water both above and below the ground in buffers. Then, we can control and connect these smartly to share water between businesses, or with agriculture and green services. These interventions are partly invisible, however, since they happen underground.
That’s why VITO teamed up with The Oval Office to develop a modular experience allowing visitors to discover a blue-green business site of the future. Business site managers, local governments, farmers and companies can get inspired to take their own steps towards water-sustainable business sites. Visitors are immersed in the story with an audio game, tactile images and interactive displays.
The water experience container on tour
The experience container is mobile and will travel across Flanders, stopping at specific locations. The water container is also featuring in the Flanders Technology and Innovation festival to be held from 16 to 21 March in Hasselt, and the Slotfestival in Antwerp on 23 and 24 March.
